Jagruthi Bone Cancer Treatment and Research Trust
Jagruthi Bone Cancer Treatment and Research Trust is a non-profit trust with the objectives of building awareness about bone cancer and its treatment, funding treatment of underprivileged patients and contributing towards research on bone cancer.
As a part of the awareness building process, the trust is conducting a “Lend a hand” campaign wherein Trust volunteers approach schools and collect colourful handprints of the children. The handprints would be a gesture of pledging support to the cause of bone cancer. Simultaneously, while being involved in this fun activity, the children will learn about the disease and precautions from teachers and Trust volunteers. This activity has been launched on 3rd November and will be carried out in at least 50 schools across rural and urban Bangalore. All children who participate in “Lend a hand” were invited to a Walkathon and seminar on 22nd November.
On 22nd November 2009, we organised a “Two Feet for a cause” Walkathon that started at Vidhana Soudha and ended in Cubbon Park, Bangalore. The participants at the walkathon were children and adults who support the cause and included politicians and celebrities. Several thousand people participated in this mega event.
The walkathon was followed by a seminar at Bal Bhavan where the trustees addressed the gathering. The seminar was chaired by prominent doctors and other famous social figures.
